A new open-access publication titled “Multi-aspect assessment for the retrofitting of operating vessels in ports by using advanced power systems” has been published.

The study provides a detailed evaluation of energy, environmental, economic, and technical dimensions of eight advanced power system configurations—such as fuel cells, battery-electric systems, and sustainable fuels—applied to a tugboat retrofit scenario. The results offer insights into the potential of these technologies to improve the performance and sustainability of port operations.

This publication is the result of a collaboration between the World Maritime University (WMU) and the University of Genoa.
