Hi-EFECTS Research Presented at the 5th Symposium on Ammonia Energy in Chile

Researchers from Aalto University, a partner in the Hi-EFECTS project, participated in the 5th Symposium on Ammonia Energy (SoAE), held in Santiago, Chile, in late September 2026.

The symposium brought together researchers and industry experts to discuss various aspects of ammonia energy, including production, safety, combustion, modelling, and techno-economic analysis.

Aalto University presented experimental research from Hi-EFECTS on the effects of negative valve overlap (NVO) in an ammonia–diesel dual-fuel engine. The work contributes to a better understanding of ammonia combustion and its potential applications in marine engines.
