Associate Professor Ossi Kaario from Aalto University Visits KAUST, Saudi Arabia

Prof. Ossi Kaario is visiting KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology), Saudi Arabia, for a three‑month period between January and April 2026. During his stay, he is collaborating with the Clean Energy Research Platform at KAUST, hosted by Prof. Hong Im.

The visit focuses on advancing ammonia combustion simulation capabilities for plasma‑assisted ignition and combustion using open‑source numerical tools. The collaboration centers on 0D and 1D modeling of plasma‑assisted combustion (PAC) for ammonia flames, and will also involve an Aalto University PhD student visiting KAUST.

In addition, the joint work will extend to 2D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to study PAC phenomena across various ammonia–air mixtures.
